Blackrock‘s Food Medic joins line up for Thrive Festival
BLACKROCK native Dr Hazel Wallace is one of the signature speakers for Thrive Festival, taking place at the end of March at The Convention Centre, Dublin
Food Medic founder Hazel is the Signature Speaker at the health and wellness seminar on Sunday March 31.
A past pupil of Dundalk Grammar School, she is a qualified medical doctor, best-selling author, and health writer.
Hazel started The Food Medic blog in 2012, while still a medical student in a bid to bridge the gap between conventional medical advice and the latest thoughts and developments in nutrition and other areas of lifestyle medicine.
It proved a huge success and has expanded across a range of social media platforms including a website, podcasts YouTube and Instagram.
She has written two best-selling books aimed at encouraging people to embrace cooking as part of a healthy lifestyle. Her podcast cuts through the confusing health information often found online by interviewing experts and specialists who dispel the myths surrounding diet and health, and instead share evidence based advice and tips.
Hazel is also a qualified personal trainer and is currently pursuing a masters in clinical nutrition and public health.
‘I like to think of myself as one of the first of a new generation of doctors,’ she says.’ I am passionate about maximising health through how we live our lives – including food, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and our social connections.’
Along with fellow signature speaker Gemma, Hazel joins a who’s who list of top wellness and fitness specialists including chef Jasmine Hemsley, The Little Green Spoon’s Indy Power, The Gut Stuff - Lisa and Alana Macfarlane (The Mac Twins), adventurer Pip Stewart, sleep expert Tom Coleman, decluttering queen Breda Stack, vegan food blogger Holly White, food blogger Sinéad Delahunty, yogis Julie B, Molly McKeever, Annie K and many more at the Thrive Festival which is organised by the crew behind Taste of Dublin.
