Business biography: Lisa Shields
FOUNDER and driving force behind LM Virtual Office is local lady Lisa Shields from Blackrock who started the business in 2009 and ran it on her own for the first couple of years.
She steered it through the tough years of the recession and it has developed and grown by expanding the services offered to customers. Lisa now has three employees who assist her in running the business.
On reflection, the timing of starting a new business when many were closing “didn’t seem to make sense to some people” recalls Lisa. However, the fact that she had just been made redundant and not being a person to sit around she decided to take action.
Her experience lay in customer service, having worked in Estate Agents and the Financial Services sector, so being a service provider was definitely the area she wanted to pursue.
Her brother was the one who unintentionally gave her the idea for the business.” He needed office space and I was looking on Google to see what was available when a Virtual Office popped up in the UK. I remember thinking that’s it I’m going to do something like that.
I began my research and completed a Business Enterprise course with the Louth County Enterprise Board in September 2008 and on Monday 2nd February 2009 I opened the doors.”
The rest is history.
