Local athletes in top form at DkIT
GLENMORE AC athlete Paul Savage was the talk of the Penincula club last weekend after completing the Dubai Ironman 70.3 in an amazing time of 4 hours 51 minutes.
The experienced triathlete finished 75th in his 35-39 age group and 338th overall. All at Glenmore were particularly pleased with his fast half marathon time of 1:32:27 on the final leg.
Back on Irish soil meanwhile, senior athlete Peter Noone hit a personal best despite the windy conditions at the Nally’s Supervalu Trim 10-mile road race.
Glenmore athletes were also out in force at The Irish Masters and Intermediate Cross Country Championships held locally on Sunday at DKIT.
In the Masters 7km event Donal McMoreland (26:22) and Ciaran Walsh (27:20) ran superbly, as did Intermediate Shane Toner who completed the 7.5km race in 25:40).
The 0-5k Bush4mation group completed their four-week 5k training plan and took to the Bush track early on Saturday and ran their first 5km in style.
This was the result of lots of hard work and determination over the four-week period.
On the juvenile front Molly Anne Moore, Elliot Nichols, Ellen Callan, Sarah Mallon, James Dunne, Lisa Conlon and Ciaran Flynn all ran
brilliantly in the All Ireland B Cross Country Championships at DKITy. Lisa Conlon and Ciaran Flynn were both medal winners on the day.
Preparations are well underway for the Kearney & McBride 5k road race on Sunday 3rd of March starting at the Bush school and
finishing with a lap of the Glenmore AC track at the Bush,
