Great line-up for Sundays in Spring concert series

-

SPRING is in the air (at least according to the calendar) so it’s time to look forward to the fourth annual Sundays in Spring afternoon concert series in the Carlingford Heritage Centre. Artistic Directors, Zoe Conway and John McIntyre, have succeeded again in attracting a superb line-up of musicians, singers, songwriters and performers to match the Centre’s ever growing reputation.

The series opens on Sunday April 4 with The 4 Of Us, brothers Declan and Brendan Murphy, Newry natives who now live in Carlinford/

The renowned Irish and RTE concert pianist Anthony Byrne, and his wife, international soprano, Mairéad Buicke, play on April 14.

After a break for East, the concerts return on April 28, with the famous O’Connor family.

On May 5, it’s a welcome return for the legendary Tríona Ní Dhomhnaill, formerly of the Bothy Band. When Triona finished her short gig here last summer, in the company of Zoe and John, she vowed to come back with her sister, the wonderful, Maighread Ní Dhomhnaill, to perform together.

Tickets, €12/concessions €10, available on line at www. carlingfordheritagecentre.com, by e-mail at info@carlingfordheritagecentre.com or by phone 9373454 or 9373888. Pop into the Spirit Store for some traditional music at the long running Sunday afternoon session from 6pm to 9pm.
