Two Dundalk schools learn more about European Union

-

DUNDALK’S Coláiste Lú and Coláiste Chú Chulainn are taking part in the European Parliament Ambassador Schools programme, which allows participating schools to explore the history, values and workings of the democracy of the European Union.

THE aim of the programme is to increase awareness of Europe, democracy and political choice among young people across the EU. Ambassador schools do this by organising a Europe Day event, setting up an info point, linking up with schools in other EU countries and completing the EPAS Workbook Schools completing the programme are awarded a European Parliament Ambassador School plaque and each student receives an EPAS Certificate. LAUREN Carroll from the European Parliament Office in Dublin visited Coláiste Lú and Coláiste Chú Chulainn last week to talk to Transition Year students about the programme. The next task for the TY students to organise Europe Day celebrations across both schools, as they work towards the Junior Ambassadors’ Awards Ceremony in April.
