Local Improvement Schemes
The news that €250,000 has been allocated to Louth County Council for a new round of Local Improvement Scheme (LIS) funding has been broadly welcomed.
The funding is aimed at assisting the repair and resurfacing of non-public rural roads in the county. Louth TD Fergus O’Dowd confirmed: ‘Important changes will be made to the scheme in 2019 including a new capped contribution of €1,200 per individual householder or landowner. This new change will certainly help residents in the more remote and sparsely populated roads in the county. The upgrading of non-public roads improves people’s quality of life which is vitally important for rural Ireland. Strengthening local connectivity enables rural Ireland to function more effectively and makes a big difference to people’s lives.’
