Willow Grove estate to be taken in charge

-

THE long running problems endured by residents of Willow Grove over the condition of roads in the estate off the Carrick Road look like coming to an end after it was agreed that public roads in the estate be taken in charge.

This follows on from a plebiscite which found that the majority of residents were in favour of the estate being taken in charge by Louth County Council.

As part of the process, Cllr Maria Doyle had made a submission supporting the estate being taken in charge due to the poor condition of the roads, the long standing requests by the residents and the hope that repairs will be carried out to the roads.

As councillors approved the declaration to take the estate in charge at last week’s Municipal District of Dundalk meeting, Louth County Council will now be responsible for open public spaces, public lighting, unallocated car parks, sewers (excluding service connections) and watermains in the development.

The move has been welcomed by Willow Grove Residents Association who had been campaigning for repairs to be carried out to the roads for a number of years.

Association chairperson Mr Vincent Jackson recalled that the plebiscite had been taken in 2014.

‘It’s a very good day for us that the Council has agreed to take the estate in charge
