St. Gerard’s Hall is no more

A local landmark disappeared from our own recently as St Gerard’s Hall was demolished as part of the significant development works in St Joseph’s church and monastery.

The hall was a very well used resource in the town over many decades and was home to many local groups such as the Kobra Kan Kickboxing Club.

It was used as a polling station for many years until recent timees when the local residents had to cast their vote in Louth County Hall or Realt na Mara National School

The hall is no more but a new hall is part of the development and will be used by the local community when complete.
