Carlingford Lough Heritage Trust AGM
CARLINGFORD Lough Heritage Trust invites all members of the community to its forthcoming Annual General Meeting, which takes place in Carlingford Heritage Centre on Monday, February 18 at 7.30p.m.
The Trust continues the tradition of having an open forum for the community at its annual gathering. All are welcome to come along and participate in the ongoing discussion on Carlingford’s future development and conservation of its built heritage. The Heritage Trust has a proven record of achievement in developing derelict sites in the town and bringing historic structures into use for community benefit.
New members are always welcome. Many joining in recent years have made a valuable contribution to the Trust’s projects. As one of the oldest community organisations in the area, the Heritage Trust has continued to renew and evolve to meet the challenges of the day and keep its members and the wider community engaged with its work.
The Heritage Centre is a favoured venue by artists who return on an annual basis. New members with an interest in music could find themselves rubbing shoulders with the likes of The Four of Us, Luka Bloom and Liam O’ Maonlai if they become involved in either our Sundays in Spring or our Summer Concert Series.
This year, with the reopening of King John’s Castle imminent, Office of Public Works officials will attend the AGM to make a presentation on their conservation work at the castle and future plans for the site. We would welcome a constructive discussion from all strata of society in the area on how best we as a community can

In the last two years, the Heritage Trust has succeeded in sourcing substantial funding from Louth Leader, the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland, Louth County Council and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to enhance our venues in terms of facilities, performance area improvements, safety and energy efficiency. Create Louth, Louth County Council’s arts service, continue to support our concert output and encourage the diverse programmes we have developed.
On top of all that, our burgeoning relationship with DkIT has resulted in some very promising projects coming on stream in 2019 and beyond. There’s always room for alternative ideas and an extra pair of hands. So come along on February 18, hear what’s going on and maybe be a part of it.
