GAME MEAT FEAST NIGHT ALL FOR APPEAL FOR ZOE

-

On Saturday night I headed for Byrnes Bar where Dundalk and District Game Preservation Association were hosting their 8th annual Game Meat Feast and this year all monies raised were to be donated to the Zoe Murphy fund.

On the menu that night were pheasant, duck, snipe, woodcock, venison and woodpigeon which were being prepared by two of the club’s members Darren McGoey and Glen Woods who had put out a fantastic spread.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I met up with Hon Treasurer John Toal and Larry Muckian both from Hughes Park who told me the club have supported local charities over their eight years and were delighted to contribute to the Zoe Murphy fund.

I then over for a word with my neighbour Brendan Halpenny from Parnell Park who was awaiting the arrival of his brother Patsy Halpenny from Bay Estate and told me it is always a fantastic night for the club.

Not too far away I then got a word with Paddy McAlevey from Riverside Drive and Dean Kerins who was over from Kells specially for the occasion and was more than impressed with what he had found with the Dundalk club.

After this I headed over for a chat with Jenny Casey from Nicholas Avenue and Margaret Murphy from Park Drive who were there with Margaret’s son Eamonn, his wife Pauline, their kids Tiernan, Emmett and Dervla, his sister and her son Liz and James Murphy from Allardstown who were all getting stuck into the food and told me it was just lovely.

I then made my way over to a table where I caught up with Tony and Aoife McComish from Williamsons Place and Jake Byrne from Louth Village who told me they were really enjoying their night.

Heading for another table I got a word with Sean and Valerie Lennon from Shore Road who told me that they were there as guests of the club because they hunt on their lands on the Shore Road.

They were enjoying a lovely meal along with Karen and Pat Lennon from Goslings Terrace, May and Thomas Lennon also from Shore Road who wanted to compliment the club on a lovely spread.

Seated close by were Adam, Liam and Mannie Moore all from Castleross who told me it was Liam’s first time at the Meat Feast and he certainly seemed to be enjoying it.

Making my way to another table I got a word with Dinah and David McArdle from Dunmor who were enjoying the company of Mairead and Brian Carson from Priorland Road, Catherine and Tony McDonnell from Avenue Road and not Outer Mongolia as I was first told. They told me it was a really lovely night and a credit to the club.

After this I met up with Michelle McEvoy from Dromiskin and Hitomi Sano from Lisdoo and local taxidermist Aurelien McEvoy-Jean from Dromiskin who were definitely enjoying the evening.

Not too long later I got a word with Gerry and Meta Kirk from Castletown Road. Gerry is from the Ardee Clay Pigeon Club and was delighted to be there on the night and to support such a worthy cause.

I then got a word with Rockhill club member Robbie Rafferty who told me he was very impressed with the spread and it was all credit to the club for such a great night.

Also, up for a mad one were Mark Dollard from Parnell Park and Cian Conlon from Hughes Park who told me it was going to be an epic night.

I then headed over for a quick word with more of my neighbours Jim and Anne Matthews from Parnell Park who were with Gavin Doyle and Rebecca Hanratty both from Omeath, Geraldine and Gerry Doogan from Lennon-Melia Terrace who told me the food was lovely and craic was good too.

After this I headed over for a chat with, Nigel and Emma-Louise Muckian from Ravensdale who were with Hannah, May and Larry Muckian all from Hughes Park who said the craic was great, the food equally so and the cause was excellent too.

Next, I met up with father and daughter Michael and Michaela Finnegan from Seans Tavern who told me Michael is with the club and as was expected, the food was fantastic.

Finally, I caught up with Gerry Byrne and John Lambe both from Knockbridge who were there as guests of the club and could only describe the food and the night as ‘ top class’.
