Man arrested after attempted car jacking

A man in his 40s was arrested and charged after two reported ‘attempted carjacking­s’ in mid Louth on Sunday morning.

Louth County Councillor, Jim Tenanty was reported to have been driving along a rural road outside Darver at around 10am when he was approached by the individual.

Fortunatel­y, the Ardee councillor managed to escape.

There were also reports of a second attempt to steal a vehicle nearby.

But the owner of the vehicle,a van, apprehende­d the individual who was later arrested and charged.
