Family Addiction Support

THE Dundalk based Family Addiction Support Network (FASN) are set to host an informatio­n and awareness event next week.

The seminar has been organised following the launch of the new National Drugs’ Strategy ‘Reducing Harm, Supporting Recovery; A health led response to drug and alcohol use in Ireland 2017-2025’

To mark the Internatio­nal Family Drug Support Day on 24th February 2019 FASN has organised the informatio­n/ awareness event at their premises for Tuesday 26th February 2019

The ‘Support the Family – Improve the Outcome’ event will be held at the FASN premises, Lios Dubh, Armagh Road on Tuesday next from 9.30am1pm.

Among the speakers at the seminar are the Family Addiction Support Network Services leader, Gwen McKenna

The main role of the FASN is in working with families affected by addiction from across the North East. The Network was set up to help families achieve ‘a greater understand­ing of addiction, empower them to improve their quality of life and fulfil a positive role in the recovery of their loved one, should they choose to take it.’

Also speaking at the event is Anna Quigley, from Citywide will be speaking on ‘Families in the new strategy and Stop the Stigma.’

Drug Intimidati­on Reporting will be highlighte­d by Ger Doherty, from the National Family Support Network.

Finger Food and light refreshmen­ts will be served from 1-2pm.
