Chamber meet joint British-Irish Parliamentary group

DUNDALK Chamber met with and briefed the British-Irish Parliamentary Assembly, a group of political representatives from different Parliaments across the UK and Ireland, which is conducting an inquiry into ‘ The revitalisation of the high street and local business.

The focus of the inquiry is to gather evidence on policy tools used by local government, BID groups and business leaders to effect positive change for the high street and local businesses. This will form the basis of a report which will make recommendations to Governments across the UK and Ireland.

Following the meeting, Dundalk Chamber Representative Michael Gaynor said, ‘ the briefing enabled us to directly represent the views of our members and to. The Chamber with local stakeholders, has worked to ensure a sustainable and viable retail and business environment in our towns. Any opportunity to engage in a dialogue on the revitalisation of the high street and local business is welcome.’
