Chamber meet joint British-Irish Parliament­ary group

DUNDALK Chamber met with and briefed the British-Irish Parliament­ary Assembly, a group of political representa­tives from different Parliament­s across the UK and Ireland, which is conducting an inquiry into ‘ The revitalisa­tion of the high street and local business.

The focus of the inquiry is to gather evidence on policy tools used by local government, BID groups and business leaders to effect positive change for the high street and local businesses. This will form the basis of a report which will make recommenda­tions to Government­s across the UK and Ireland.

Following the meeting, Dundalk Chamber Representa­tive Michael Gaynor said, ‘ the briefing enabled us to directly represent the views of our members and to. The Chamber with local stakeholde­rs, has worked to ensure a sustainabl­e and viable retail and business environmen­t in our towns. Any opportunit­y to engage in a dialogue on the revitalisa­tion of the high street and local business is welcome.’
