Lithuanian Ambassador is welcomed to County Hall

The Lithuanian Ambassador met with elected officials and council management during a visit to Louth County Hall recently.

Ambassador Egidijus Meilunas was welcomed by Cathoirlea­ch, Cllr. Liam Reilly, Cllr. Conor Keelan, Chair of the Dundalk Municipal District and Cllr. Frank Godfrey, Mayor of Drogheda, at the offices of Louth County Council.

CEO Joan Martin and Director of Service, Frank Pentony also met with the Ambassador, who was joined by a delegation from the Lithuanian community in Louth.

Cllr. Keelan explained that the meeting had been a success for all cocnerned.

‘I had the privilege to meet with the Lithuanian Ambassador to Ireland and with members of our large Lithuanian Community in County Hall.’

He added; The Ambassador voiced solidarity to us in relation to Brexit and we discussed some matters with the local Lithuanian community that could be advanced at Council level. It was a useful meeting.’

Menawhile, the Ambassador took to social media to highlight the visit, saying it had been a ‘ very warm meeting.’

He added that they discussed a number of matters, including the local economy and the possible support for the Lithuanian community, with education and cultural activities in Dundalk and Drogheda.
