The once prosperous factory was launched by Heinz in 1993 and was one of the biggest employers in the town with 155 employed there when The Authentic Food Company took over the running of the plant from Heinz in 2015. Workers, many of whom had been working at the plant for over 20 years were devastated at the sbock closure.
