A 24-year-old man who pleaded guilty to burglary and criminal damage charges, has been given a chance.

Shane Crawley, 13 Feran Drive, Louth Village, admitted the offences which occurred at a house in Priorstate, Louth Village on 22 August last.

Evidence was given he broke a kitchen window, causing €150-worth of damage, at the house which people had yet to move into.

There was evidence of drinking taking place inside on a couch.

Barrister Sarah Jane Judge said her client has completed a course in Cuan Mhuire. He has no previous conviction­s and has taken no drink since.

Crawley is living away from the area and has €180 compensati­on in court.

Judge Coughlan said he would give him a chance. The charges were struck out.
