Dara gets the job Dunne for Gers

-

GERALDINES got their first season under new manager Eamon Dunne off to a winning start with this local derby win with a goal from a Dara Hamill penalty helping them come out on top.

The Gers began well and had points on the board through Paddy Geoghegan, Hamill and Josh Arrowsmith before the Brides got off the mark.

The Knockbridge men cut the gap to a point entering the closing stages of the half but once again it was Hamill who provided the response with two late points to see his side lead by 0-6 to 0-4 at half time.

The Gers then took a firm grip on the game at the start of the second half when Hamill scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot to see his side move five points clear.

The Brides rarely looked capable of bridging that gap and despite adding four points to their tally, Declan McCoy’s charges saw the hosts hold out comfortably for victory.
