PAUL Morgan got his term as senior team manager off to a winning start with a 0-10 to 0-7 Sheelan Cup win over St Fechin’s at Termonfeck­in on Saturday night. There was a nice mixture of youth and experience in the line-up.

The under-16s, this year amalgamate­d with Clan na Gael, were defeated by O’Rahilly’s in Sunday morning’s league match.

The lotto jackpot continues to grow, with €16,300 on offer tonight. You can play by buying a ticket in Grant’s Newsagents, Dublin Street. Costing €2 each or three for €5, they can also be bought from a committee member.

The football nursery for girls and boys aged 4 to 6 is up and running. It continues each Saturday evening in the DkIT Dome from 5 to 6pm, and is fully supervised.

SATURDAY night saw the Geraldines Senior Mens Team start their 2019 journey with a convincing win against local rivals St Brides. Geraldines 1.10 / St Brides 0.8. Eamonn Dunne’s Army will continue next Saturday with a home match against Dundalk Young Irelands.

Our u10 boys enjoyed week 3 of Louth GAA Blitz’s in DkIT on Saturday morning; attendance was excellent yet again with The Gers fielding 3 teams. Games were competitiv­e and the boys gave great performanc­es.

Our Saturday Juvenile Winter Developmen­t programme has now come to end. Thank you to all coaches who gave their time to help make this programme a huge success; now the season is slowly starting up we can clearly see this was hugely beneficial to the children. Thank you to the dedicated group who designed, organised and ran this programme. Well done to the children who attended.

U12 boys start their next round of training at DKIT on Tuesday 19th, 7-8pm. U13/14 boys will train Thursdays from 6.45 – 8 pm.

Congratula­tions to the Louth Ladies Minors who beat Wicklow in the first round of the Leinster Minor Competitio­n. Congrats to Mentor John Carr and Gers girls Kellie, Holly, Sarah, Emma, Rebecca and Ava. Louth 15 girls defeated Monaghan in Clones; well done to Ailish Todd, Katie McGeogh, Maebh Fee and Karina Corcoran for their incredible performanc­es.

The U16 boys started off their League campaign with a hard fought win over a Dreadnots/St. Kevins amalgamati­on. Playing with the advantage of a very strong breeze in the first hard they led by 6 points at halftime. However it was a determined and resolute second half performanc­e that got them over the line. Well done boys.

Our Registrati­on Night was hugely successful and we were delighted to see many existing and new faces join the Geraldines. We have a 2nd night for those who didn’t register first time round – Wednesday 20th February, 730-9pm in the Geraldines Hall. Many of our coaches and volunteers will be available to talk to parents on the evening. Boys and girls of all abilities are very welcome.

It’s the final week of Walking with the Gers and Ireland Lights Up. This has been hugely successful within our Parish. Let’s make this Thursday the best attendance to date!!! Registrati­on 645pm, walk 7-8pm under the flood lights in a safe and secure environmen­t. Join us for tea/coffee in Club Kitchen after. “Walking: the most ancient exercise and still the best modern exercise.”

GLENEMMETS

GLEN Emmets played Roche Emmets in the first round of the Kevin Mullen Shield group stage on Saturday in Pairc de Roiste and beat them 2-15 to 1-10.

They meet Lannleire in round two next Sunday at 11am in Dunleer. All support is welcome.

We would encourage all our members and community to get up and get walking! In conjunctio­n with RTÉ One Operation Transforma­tion, we want you to enjoy community walks in your lo- cal GAA club. This initiative ends this coming Saturday at 11am, so why not come out and walk!

Our walking track is just over 500m long, so walk it 10 times and you’ve done 5k! A community that walks together, stays together!

Club gear is available online, including jerseys, training tops, shorts, tracksuit bottoms, half-zips, body warmers, hats, bags etc.

KILKERLEYE­MMETS

THE seniors lost 0-12 to 3-14 in the Sheelan Cup on Saturday last, Tadhg McEneaney 0-6, Michael Begley 0-3, Daniel McKeown 0-2, Ultan McEneaney 0-1. We play away to Sean O’Mahonys this Saturday evening at 7.00pm and away to St Marys on Sunday, March 3 at 3.00pm.

The lotto jackpot of €3,300 was not won. Funds from the lotto help with the weekly running costs of the club. Thanks to all who continue to support the club lotto over the years and those that promote and assist at draw each night.

The GAA National Club Draw tickets are on sale. Prizes include a car, pairs of tickets for All Ireland football and hurling final with overnight and meals, €2000 travel voucher and a number of €500 shopping vouchers.

All proceeds from sales go to club funds. Tickets on sale from any committee member priced €10.

KNOCKBRIDG­E

OUR Junior hurlers played Mattock Rangers in the opening round of the league last sunday in Collon. After a well contested contest our lads ran out 3-11 to 2-7 winners. The match started off very even but in a purple patch just before half time Knockbridg­e struck for 3 quickfire goals to kill off the game. Mattock fired in 2 goals in the second half but it was too little too late. The team wasJames King, Ciaran Brennan, James Searson, Adam Plunkett, Daire McKiernan, Mick Lunden, Padraic Cunningham (0-1), Robert Wallace (0-4), Conor Quigley (0-1), Gavin Kerrigan (0-1), Ronan Murphy (1-0), Neil Thornton (2-3), Gary Hall and Sean Byrne (0-1). Next up is Camlough on the 24th.

Our U-11 were successful in winning all four matches in the latest indoor blitz held in the Dkit. Our oppositon were Carrickmac­ross from Monaghan, Warrenpoin­t from Down plus Camlough and Cuchlainns from Armagh. Last Saturday we had seven young hurlers at U-12 Louth academy training where they were part of a very enjoya- ble session held by new county coach Paul Matthews.

Congratula­tions to our senior scor team of Dermot Plunkett, Adam Plunkett, Frank Carney and Sean Byrne on winning the Louth scor quiz held recently in Darver. They go on to represent Louth in the All-Ireland competitio­n. Our own club table quiz takes place on Friday March 1st in Cluskeys Little Ash. All support is very welcome on what is always a fun night.

NAOMHFIONN­BARRA

NUMBERS drawn in last Wednesday’s Naomh Fionnbarra GFC and St Anne’s Camogie Club lotto were 8, 10, 11 and 14. There were four match-three winners of €40 each - Breda Butterly, Duddestown; Peadar Harmon, Annagassan; Sheila Woods, c/o Adrian Woods; and Robert Byrne, Grangebell­ew.

Well done to the Finbarrs’ intermedia­te men’s team who had a good win against Naomh Martin on Saturday at Monasterbo­ice in the first round of the Paddy Sheelan Cup on a scoreline of 2-11 to 1-8.

The club are hosting another membership registrati­on day this Friday between 7 and 8.30pm at the clubrooms in John Markey Park for men, ladies, juveniles and camogie sections. All players and members who wish to renew their membership are welcome to attend on either day.
