- By OLIVIA RYAN

COLÁISTE Chu Chulain has appointed a Senior Student Leadership Team.

Principal Thomas Sharkey said they had taken this initiative ‘ to ensure the Student Voice is central in decision making and policy implementation on the school.’

‘ The student is the centre of everything we do in school. All of our work is focused on achieving excellence for our students. It is only natural that students are part of our management structure. We are the newest school in Louth and have set our sights on delivering innovation in education, employment, and community development for our community.’

Deputy Principal Richard Melaniphy said: ‘We know our students have leadership roles in their communities, families, sports clubs and youth groups. We carried out a competency based competition in school, similar to the modern world of industry. Students completed online applications, were shortlisted for interview and then interviewed by our management team.’

Josh Challoner was selected as Head Boy, while Pelumi Adesanya was appointed Head Girl.

The range of roles within the Senior Student Leadership Team are: Ambassador of Enviroment: Grace Kieran; Ambassador of Anti-bullying: Jack McKenna, and Eimear Mattison; Extra- Curricular Ambassador: Katerina Tugulea, and Gareth Molloy; Cultural Diversity and integration Ambassador: Grace Ojo, and Academic Ambassador: Atilola Oguntoyinbo and Victor Akinsowon.
