Gino’s Diner serve up a feast of snooker

GINOS Diner made it two wins from two continuing there fine start to the new season with a four-nil hammering over the luckless Charlie chaplins.

Ginos stormed into the lead with a fine performanc­e from Alan Thompson beating Stephen McBride.

It was to get better when Mark McMullen outclassed an out of form Aaron Callan and then Davey Moran upset Mickey Ralph to make it 3-0 on the night.

Thompson returned in the doubles match with partner Fra Rogers to beat Gary McNally and Mickey Kelly to complete the 4-0 win sending Gino’s to the league summit after week two.

The Camelot and Global Tyres were next up and this match produced a fine display of league snooker played by both teams. In the first Mark Laverty got The Camelot off to a flyer beating Tiernan Mallon.

In the second David J Mcardle making his first appearance of the season beat Global Tyres captain Keith Morris to extend the Camelots lead to two however the impressive Justin McArdle clawed Global Tyres back into the match playing great stuff in beating

Johnny Grant.

However it was The Camelot who won the final doubles match giving them all three points when Paddy Hayes partnered Ken Mullhollan­d beating Global Tyres pair David Doyle and Gerry Roger’s giving the Camelot the 3-1 win.

The match of the night saw two of the favourites for the league title lock horns in the final match of the night and it was Barone racing who raced away to a 3-1 win despite the impressive Dominic O’Connor putting The Commercial 1-0 up on the night beating the excellent John Dugdale who recently hit a 147 in practice.

However Barone Racing’s own Liam Johnston pulled his side level beating his good friend Maddy Hoey who fell just short after a great comeback.

In the next Barone racing hit the front just over a furlong out when Patsy Muckian beat Aaron Lee and there was no need for a photo finish in this one when Barone racings pair John Dugdale and Patrick Mcardle beat The commercial pairing of Joe Mcenany and Maddy Hoey sealing the win and all three points.

KILRUDDERY Park in Bray was a very successful venue for Cuchulainn Cycling Club in the most recent round of the Leinster Cyclo Cross League.

In the under-12 girls the club put two ladies on the podium with Ffionn Dolan in 1st and Holly McCffrey in 3rd. This win sees Ffionn take an unassailab­le lead in the provincial league.

Meanwhile in the senior races Johnny McCabe was 2nd in the Masters 50 category in the A race, while Fergus McCann achieved the same result in the same category in the B race. The B race also saw Paull

Dagg have an excellent race to finish 6th.

In the under-14 boys Eoin Holmes and Callum McCaffrey had a good back and forth battle to finish just outside the top 10. Shane Meegan posted a solid performanc­e in the Under-12 boys.

In the Ulster Cyclo Cross race, Armagh was the venue for the latest round. Aaron Doogan had a good ride in the Under-14 boys.

Dylan Haughey and Felim Teggart had a head to head battle with Dylan edging him out this week, however neither rider made the podium despite being very close in the under 12 boys .Grace O’Rourke finished just inside the Top 10 in the Under-12 girls race and her younger brother Michael continues to improve in the under-10 category.

The next big event on the Cuchulainn calendar in the Christmas and awards party on Friday, December 7th in the Spirit Store.

All the club awards will be presented along the overall for the Bike Station League.
