Finnian thrilled with album crowdfunding success

-

Local musician Finnian is overwhelmed with the response to a crowdfunding campaign he launched for his new album. ‘It’s a huge boost for my music and creativity so I thank you all sincerely,’ he told his supporters, admitted that he was both ‘absolutely gobsmacked and humbled’ by the response.

Finnian had already recorded the album in Blackmountain Studio, and it was mixed and mastered both for digital and vinyl release by multiple Grammy award winners Ben Kane and Alex De Turk at the legendary Masterdisk Vinyl Cutting in Brooklyn, New York.

‘ This broke my wallet, actually my wallet is still in bits ,’ he muses. However, he was very proud of what he have made and after putting so much time and money into the recording, mixing and mastering of this record . he felt it would be remiss of him not to finish the project.

Entitled ‘Under the Influence’, he reveals that it has been called that for many reasons but ‘ Mainly, I was under the influence of music that inspired me over the years, musicians that have opened my ears to new sounds, people that I met and places that I have been.’

The album is produced by and features the playing of his band, which, he says ‘includes some of the finest session musicians working in Ireland today from renowned keys player John McCullough to Booka Brass. And beautiful singers Jess Kav of Barq and Stephanie Winters. The records gatefold package and textured cover below was designed by record aficionado Niall Hitone McCormack.’

‘My aim was to press these 9 Tracks to Vinyl. Hugely inspired by 70’s style production, we recorded live to tape in Blackmountain Studio (not just to be snobby or hipster) but with the genuine ambition of giving the listener the most authentic sounding record that we could make.’ He hopes that the digital release will be Friday July 24 and hopefully vinyl simultaneously.

Finnian says he turned to crowdfunding because ‘I want this record to be heard as we intended’ and with the current COCID-19 restrictions, he can no longer work to earn the money to pay for it himself. To date he has raised more than twice his original target, an indication of how many fans he has made down the years.
