Simple pleasures and treats missed by us all

-

THE body wants, what the body wants.

We’ve seen in the last week, as lockdown restrictions ease, queues outside McDonald’s Drive-thrus and Krispy Kreme doughnut shops in Dublin. Indeed Gardai were called to divert traffic away from some of the six McDonald’s fastfood restaurants that opened last Thursday such were the hoardes craving a Big Mac and fries.

Here in town the local McDonald’s remains closed for the time being, but many of the local fast-food takeaways are open, with cars queues outside for their chip suppers.

As the sun shone last week, the window hatch at the Roma Restaurant was busy with those looking for their homemade ice-cream.

Meanwhile many got their first latte, flat white or cappunico at their favourite coffee shop even if it was a takeaway.

Long queues of cars formed outside the new Starbucks during the past week.

Simple pleasures and treats have been missed by all young and old over the past number of weeks.
