KATHLEEN CAUGHT THE IMAGINATION
The tangible good that local lady Kathleen Lynch generated was cast in written form during the week. When Age Action and the Red Cross received a cheque, representing the proceeds to date from Kathleen’s fund raising Home Garden Dance Party.
The sum of £20,000 was formally handed over to representatives of the charities, but that is not it all as donations still are coming in with a bank account open to receive them
This is as a result of Kathleen choosing to celebrate her 90th birthday on May 1 in a novel way and asking her family to give to the charities instead of spending on her.
This set in train the family all getting full square behind the venture, and arrangements put in place for the day.
It provoked a wave of generosity, with donations made on the day and on line and some still were coming in during the week.
The party caught the imagination and played an equally important part in lifting spirits of the public locally and on a wider scale over the country in this dark time of the Coronavirus.
