Stabannon making strides
upgrade of the murals over the next number of weeks. While being slightly outside the core village area, the committee members are also full of praise for for the work carried out by another family on the refurbishment and embellishment of Braganstown Pump.
Further colour will shortly be seen in the village as a result of Bernie winning twenty fairy doors, in primary colours, in a Today FM competition and, as Secretary, she was happy to donate them to a community project which will see them installed in the biodiversity garden leading to the crèche to engage with the young children in learning to identify colours. Another project at the planning stage is the redesign and landscaping of the estate green at St Nicholas’ Drive with the committee hoping to secure funding from Louth LEADER to complete this much needed upgrade. Plans are also being pursued to undertake a graveyard mapping project with the committee currently liaising with Louth County Council’s Heritage Officer to explore the feasibility of this proposal. The mapping project is seen as a positive way to highlight the heritage of the older section of the graveyard which contains structures dating back to 1826.
One would think that all this activity would keep the committee fully occupied for the foreseeable future but not so as a number of the members are planning on upskilling themselves by participating in online courses provided by LMETB so it certainly looks like a busy time ahead for the enthusiastic Tidy Towns members and supporters in Stabannon.
Bee Happy.
