Ghan House offering leeway to customers booking in advance

-

Paul Carroll of the award-winning Ghan House is looking forward to the announcement that hotels can reopen - whenever that is. In the meantime, he is giving customers lots of leeway when they make bookings in case they have to change dates due to lockdown restrictions.

‘We are starting to get inquiries and a lot of people are looking at our website,’ he says.

‘While no-one knows when restrictions are going to be lifted, people are starting to book from May/June onwards and we are giving them lots of leeway if they need to chance their dates.’

In preparation to the hotel reopening, they have been carrying out works to the twelve bedroom Georgian hotel.

Being a small boutique hotel is actually proving an advantage as guests know that there won’t be a large number of visitors mingling in the hotel.

‘People are ringing and mentioning things like the high ceilings that we have as it’s an old Georgian House. It’s not something we had ever thought about before but suddenly it’s an advantage.’

‘We’ve got a lovely walled garden where people can sit in a corner with at gin and

tonic in their own space.’

They are also getting inquiries for summer weddings.

‘People are wanting to go ahead and get married this year and maybe a big party in a year or two.’

Ghan House is ideal for small weddings which look likely to be the norm for the future.

‘We have a dining room which is lovely if there are only six guests allowed while our Georgian Room is ideal for groups of twenty or thirty people.’

‘We had some absolutely gorgeous weddings here during the previous lockdown.’

Couples have told Paul that they have actually really enjoyed having a smaller more intimate wedding.

‘Rather than having 200 people at a wedding they can save up and put the money towards a house and still have a memorable day.’
