Special year for both Saint Oliver Church and primary school
IT is a special year for Saint Oliver Plunkett School, which was acknowledged as pupils were confirmed during the week.
It marks the 125th anniversary of the opening of the school on Sandy Lane. Coincidentally, Saint Oliver Plunkett Church is 100 years old this year. A weekend of celebration is planned to take place that will include a festival of Flowers in the church, culminating with a Mass of Thanksgiving celebrated by Archbishop Eamon Martin on August 31 next.
During the Confirmation ceremony, the school’s first enrolment book with the names of the first pupils was presented.
The Centenary of the church was also acknowledged.
