Special night at Breastcare by Ali son fashion show

-

Easily the biggest event of the weekend had to be the Fashion Show in the Dundalk Golf Club for the North Louth Hospice hosted by Alison McCabe from Breastcare by Alison and as was expected an absolutely huge crowd had turned up to lend their support to the occasion.

I wasn’t too long in the door when I got a word with Alison who told me she was really looking forward to the show and that all the models on the catwalk were all cancer sufferers at various stages and were there to show they can still live and survive with it. She also wanted to thank all her supporters, business who donated for the raffles and specially Ovelle’s who gave amazing support to her fundraiser.

I then decided to have a look round to see who else was there and caught up with my old friend and fellow workmate Tracy Doherty from the Loakers who was with her neighbour Michelle Finnegan who said they were really looking forward to the show and were delighted to be there to support the cause.

Not too far away I got a word with Colette Flynn from Artane who told me she’d come down to support two of the models Paula Casey from Dublin and Sandra Piggott from Cork who are both sufferers but were proud to be taking to the catwalk for Alison.

Making my way over to another table I then had the pleasure of meeting up with Helen Gosling from Dublin Road, Niamh Fergus from Carlinn Hall and Raywina Pickering from Haggardstown who assured me it was going to be a marvellous night and were happy to be there to support it.

Next I met two ladies from Swords in the form of Barbara Donnelly and Sheena McCabe who said they were down to support the client’s of Alison’s and complimented her on her great work.

After this I got talking to Maureen Hoey from Greengates, Cecilia Sage from Kilkerley, Deirdre Martin from Carlingford and Laura Flynn from Littlemills who said they were really looking forward to the fashion show and would definitely be cheering loudest when sister-in-law Patricia Flynn was strutting her funky stuff on the catwalk.

Making my way over to an adjacent table I where I got a word with Rose Donnelly from Avenue Road, Fidelma McArdle from Ardee Road, Anne Marron from Ravensdale Sarie McCabe from Blackrock and Kathleen Corcoran from St. Alphonsus Road who are all involved with the hospice and agreed that Alison’s fundraiser is always a fantastic night.

After this I headed for a table where I met up with Jennifer Ray and Emma Dowling both from Blackrock, Siobhan Hoey and Denise Tighe both from Haggardstown who said they were there to support Aideen Murphy and wanted an extra special mention for Lesley Fee in Ruby Nu and all the great support he gives to local causes.

Next I caught up with some of the local ladies who were in great form and ready to make it a real night to remember and they included Maeve McAleavey from Beech Park, Kathleen Shields and Anne Gaskin both from St. Furseys Terrace and Mary Hodgers from Cocklehill who were having a great laugh together when I met them and said they were happy to be there for the fundraiser and wanted to wish Alison all the best on her big night.

Making my way over to another table where I got a quick word with Sharon Coburn from Kilcurry, Stephanie Watters from Silverbridge,

Rachel Carr from Hyde Park, Grainne White from Greenacres, Emma Toner, Eimear and Rebecca Califf from Muirhevnamor who said they were really looking forward to the show and specially when Rebecca’s sister Yvonne Carr was modelling.

After this I headed for the big table who were all family and friends and included (take a deep breath) Margaret Casey from Loakers, Orlagh Treacy from Haggardstown, cousin May Quigley from Dublin Street, sisters Eilish Donohoe and Mary Connor both from Blackrock, Shirley

McDonnell from Oaklawns, sister-in-law Marcella McDonnell from Belfry Avenue, the birthday girl Bronagh Daly from Greenore, Mary Murdock from Dublin Road, Bronagh Woods from Haggardstown and Julieanne Carolan from Knockbridge who were up for a mad night out together and were already in full swing when I got talking to them!

Not too far away I then caught up with Nora Laverty from Blackrock, Susan Murphy from Walterstown, Helen Malone from Blackrock, Katherine Delaney from Walterstown, Caroline Campbell from Blackrock and Jean McArdle from Ravensdale who told me both Nora and Kathleen were getting ready to model and wanted a huge shout out for Alison and Alan for all the amazing work they do.

As I made my way through this huge crowd I then headed for a table where I had the pleasure of meeting up with daughter and mother Sarah Murphy and Anne Crilly from Walshestown who were looking very well and were in great from and said they were sure it was going to be a lovely night.

Seated close by I then caught up with Juliet Clarke, Rosemarie Smyth and Uta Bingham all from Blackrock although Uta used to be an ex neighbour of mine all those years ago. The ladies admitted they were there to make the best of the occasion and were happy to be supporting such an important charity.

Heading for an adjacent table I got talking to Maeve Flynn from Rathmount, Ann Coffey from Fane View and Githa Ramachandram from

Blackrock who told me her daughter Sunita is a local GP and they were there to support a very good cause and make the best of the time they were too.

One lady who was looking extremely well but was somewhat on the busy side was Lesley Fee from Ruby Nu who was chatting to models Orlaith Mulligan from Belfry Avenue, Aideen Mernagh from Blackrock and Ellie Gorham from Mourne Vale who were looking a little nervous but were sure to make the night special when they got on the catwalk.

Finally, before I departed I managed a few words with Suzanne de Lasa and Carolyn Campbell both from Blackrock who were looking extremely well and were helping Alison and Alan out by doing the meet and greet at the door and were extremely busy but were happy to be helping out on one of the biggest nights on the social calendar.
