Another great win for U12 footballers

-

We played Ballycastle Gaels in a great sporting game in ‘Town. This was the third round of the league. Our boys combined well as a team and all the training is paying off. Best of luck to any of the team getting their Confirmation in the next few weeks.

U16 FOOTBALLERS DEFEATED

Our U16 footballers played Kanturk at home last weekend in their group’s third match. Mitchelstown were very slow to get started and found it very difficult to get scores in the first half.

However, in the second half they got more into the game. A couple of nice points were followed by 2 goals, one from a Cathal Walsh penalty. They were unlucky to not get 2 more goals when a great shot from Kevin hit the upright and another from Luke just skimmed wide. In the end Kanturk ran out winners 3-18 to 2-5. Hard luck to the lads as they really worked hard and put up a great fight until the very end.

Their next match is at home to Duarigle Gaels on Saturday, September 5.

MINOR HURLERS RECORD SECOND WIN

Ballygiblin minor hurlers had their second group match at home last Wednesday evening week to Ballyhea. The first half was a very even affair with both sides trading posts. At the break Ballygiblin were down 2 points. However, in the second half Ballygiblin got really into the match and with the introduction of fresh legs started to take control of the game. Our lads dominated the second half and got some great scores from play. We ran out worthy winners in the end Ballygiblin 1-21 Ballyhea 0-14.

Next up is an away match against Croke Rovers on September 2. Well done to the lads who have been putting in a great effort over the past few weeks at training and the work is really paying off.

U14 FOOTBALLERS MAKE IT THREE OUT OF THREE

Our U14 footballers made it three out of three tonight with a win away to Ballycastle Gaels in Castletownroche. In a game of two halves our boys played some of their best football to date in the first half racing into a 3-10 to no score lead.

Ballycastle came at us in the second half and our defence who had nothing to do in the first half were under fierce pressure. Ballycastle scored 3-2 without reply and with the wind and driving rain getting stronger we were struggling to clear our lines. With some great defending we held out and the game finished Ballycastle Gaels 3-2 to Mitchelstown 3-10. Plenty to work on in training but a great win despite the conditions. Thanks to the parents that travelled and supported the boys.
