30 marathons over 30 days in mental health fundraiser
A Cork man with Avondhu region links is set undertake a 35 day Ultra Run to raise money and awareness for Mental Health Ireland & UK.
Chris Barry and Jason AdamHein have formed the group Shoulder 2 Shoulder and their first fundraising event is the Coast2Coast Ultra-Run through the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s spectacular coastal route.
Their journey will take them through nine of Ireland’s coastal counties, running up to 75km each day and reaching a total target of 2,500 km between them within 35 days.
Chris and Jason have been best friends since meeting at the University of Bath in 2016. Coast2Coast will mark the first of many challenges and adventures the two will look to complete in the next few years together.
Chris’ aunt is Jacqueline Skinner from Mitchelstown who asked TheAvondhu to raise awareness of their effort.
Coast2Coast will be relayed between Chris and Jason where they look to run up to 80km a day and reach their accumulative target of 2,500km within 35 days.
Mental Health Ireland & UK are playing a central role in reshaping how the public understand mental health.
They share a common goal in promoting positive Mental Health & Wellbeing which is in line with what Chris and Jason are setting out to achieve.
“We are aware of how tough things might be during this time, but we encourage as many people as possible to join us on this journey so we can make as much of a difference as possible. If you would like to support us by corporate sponsorship or feature us in the press, please get in touch,” Chris said.
They will begin their event on September 7, 2020 and you can help by donating to their page on Gofundme.
