Rathcormac Community Council monthly report

-

The monthly meeting for September took place in the hall on 28th September at 8.30pm with a number of members present and 5 others on Zoom.

Bob Seward welcomed all to the meeting our first for a few months due to Covid. Conor Gurrin read the minutes of the July meeting and these were agreed and signed.

Jonathon gave the financial report which shows our head still above water though our finances are under pressure due to the devastating effect of Covid on our financial streams. We may soon have to go to the parish for donations if Covid keeps us in it’s grips.

PICNIC AREA

Some railings there need replacing. The County Council are to repair these. Also the upgrading of the playground is to go ahead. Funding for that has been granted.

ROHAN BUILDING IN SHANOWEN

We note the application for 26 new houses at Dispensary Lane by Rohan. We are to review this shortly to see if a response from us would be appropriate.

THE COMMUNITY PARK

Phase 2 is now at an advanced state so that should finish in a few weeks. We also got the hedges cut there. We Thank John Howard for his offer of wild bird cover seed to set along the border there. We need to get planning for the further lighting of the walk/ jog track in the park. That is in hand. We are also working on getting the entrance from Quarter Lane. We may get a Class 33 exemption for that.

OPEN TO PUBLIC

We hope to be able to open when Phase 2 is finished. However, it would have to close again when Phase 3 starts.

We will have to change the insurance from construction site to public park during open times.

INNOVATION HUB/THE GREEN

This we hope to develop as a flagship project with appropriate funding from public systems. This is a huge development and will cost up to €3.2 million. We are submitting the planning for this so as to be ready if funding streams are completed.

ALLOTMENTS

The running of these have not been very satisfactory. We may have to scrap this idea.

A.G.M.

This will take place in the hall at 8.30pm on Wednesday, 21st October. Nominations for Officerships must be in by the 12th October to be eligible for consideration at the A.G.M.

MUSIC ROOM

This is resuming shortly. Please contact us if anyone else wishes to join this event.

TRAFFIC CONTROL

The two speed monitors are now in place. These will be moved regularly to cover other areas.

CONGRATULATIONS

To Kieran Delaney on being elected to vice-president of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.

SOLAR FARM GLYKEEL

We note this planning application in Glykeel. We are to consider whether we need to respond to this.

CONDOLENCES

These were recorded to recently bereaved families in the area.
