Busy week all round
This week was a busy week for Seandún with national finals of competitions being held. First up was the national leadership awards for the leadership of the year competition. I myself was up for an award having entered a few months back. This year’s format was a strange one as interviews had to be completed remotely and recorded by yourself.
Given the current restrictions the awards ceremony could not be held in person. I was delighted to be awarded a national leadership award for my work in macra. The results were announced by national president Thomas Duffy. Well done to all leaders up and down the country who also won leadership awards. Thanks a million to everyone who sent on well wishes and congratulations messages to me.
This week also saw the national finals of question time being held online. Given the uncertainty around events this year, question time also had to be moved to an online format. Participants were put into breakout rooms for their individual rounds to answer ten questions on a specialist topic.
Topics ranged from sports, music, tv and film and current affairs. Each individuals score was added to each teams overall score to give a total which ultimately helped to decide on the winning team. We had a brilliant time taking part.
Thanks to our own Paul O’Regan for presiding, to Thomas Duffy for entertaining us while the results were added up and congratulations to Mountmellick Macra on their win.
Finally, the week ended with our regional round of GAA. Two teams took part this year: Ballincollig Boys and Knockraha Boys.
The match was a tough one as the weather wasn’t on our side. Congratulations to Knockraha Boys who progress to the national finals.
