Lismore Tidy Towns plant wildflower seeds

-

As stated in last week’s notes the Lismore Tidy Towns work team are reducing their evening work sessions.

Last week the space in front of the Intreo office, West Street was planted with wildflower seed. This area was previously planted up with leylandi type evergreen trees and were removed on a request from Tidy towns to the Waterford office of the Department of Social Protection. Our thanks to the staff there for all of their help in moving this project forward. Thanks to Michael McBride & Willie Henry for the seed planting and to CE worker Jim Noonan for doing the preparatory work.

Our planning meetings have been held outdoors before the start of evening work since the return to work after lockdown and have enabled us to make decisions on a number of projects, some of which have been completed and others to be completed before the end of this month.

Please be litter aware in your area and pick up in a safe hygienic manner. Dog walkers are reminded to bring a bag with them for dog waste while dog walking and use the litter bins to dispose of that waste, please don’t throw on to hedging or grass verges.

ECO TIP OF THE WEEK

Some eco friendly cleaning tips for this week.

STAIN HACKS THAT WORK

Stains on walls - use coconut oil or a puff of hairspray. Leave for a while and wipe off. A slightly sudsy cloth will remove any oil residue

Carpets, a surface treatment - The vinegar stage for coffee and wine can be followed up with bread soda or water and biodegradable detergent. Work in with your fingertips or a toothbrush and blot it out, do not over wet

Vinyl or laminate floors can be cleaned by a mixture of apple cider vinegar added to hand hot water.
