Home team take the spoils
Mogeely currently sitting joint top of the table following a comprehensive win over Cappoquin railway on a chilly but sunny Saturday morning. In the second round of the Nissan Fermoy league Mogeely had home advantage and made it count. It was one way traffic for the game. Cappoquin were on the back foot from the minute referee Xander Coolbear blew the whistle to start the game. The deadlock weas broken after 13 minutes with a fine finish by Mark Cody. Alex McSweeney added a second on 23 minutes which had the home team leading 2-0 at half time. As it was Alex’s birthday I am sure he was happy with that. Mogeely continued on the offensive in the second half and 5 minutes after the restart Mark Cody got his second and Mogeely’s third goal. Mark proved to be a handful for the Cappoquin defence and sealed his hat-trick about 5 minutes later. Cappoquin got one back through a well taken freekick but it was a consolation goal. Oscar Smiddy wrapped it up for Mogeely with a well taken goal 2 minutes before the final whistle.
