O’Keeffe defends scratch cup

-

Peter O’Keeffe from Douglas Golf Club came to defend his senior scratch cup title and duly obliged but only by the narrowest of margins from local player Tim O’Mahony. Both players finished 1 over on 69 but O’Keeffe prevailed on the countback with a better back nine. In 3rd place a further shot back was Hugh Nolan with the best nett going to Tim Deady with a 67.

Over 50 players teed off in very blustery wind which made for tough conditions with some of the pins in tricky positions. The course and especially the greens were in pristine condition which was acknowledged by all the players, so great praise to Seamus, John and Pius.

A big thank you to our main sponsors this year Metrology Systems and Services Fermoy. Thanks to all the ladies who served beautiful teas and sandwiches and rolls to the players and supporters at the turn. They went down a treat on a cold, blustery day. Well done to Willie and Tom for their organisation of the event. Later that evening in line with Covid regulations the presentation of all the scratch cups were held with Captain PJ Hammond presiding over events.
