Green light for the autumn leagues

-

We have had a fantastic response to our autumn leagues with 6 teams taking part with 7 players per team. We are looking forward to getting the competition going this weekend. Essential course maintenance of sanding and coring the greens took place last week so we now have the green light to get started from this Friday, October 9. Play will be every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We are hoping to run the league over 4 weeks. One gross score and two nett scores from each team will count every week. The top 3 teams will qualify for the final. Each player can only play once, €5 to play. Please, no practice on the day you play the competition. Draw times are as follows: Fridays 2.30pm.

Saturdays and Sundays will have three draw times, 10am, 12 noon and 2pm. You can, if you need to, play outside these times as long as you do not play with a member of your own team. Also, you cannot mark the card of a member of your own team. Weekly prizes will consist of best gent, best lady and best gross. All details regarding teams, captains and rules are at the clubhouse and on social media. Please have a quick read over the rules before you begin.

Each team captain should encourage their team along the way and please make every effort to play your game for your team each week. Only members who entered the leagues can play in this competition.

With 6 teams taking part, it is a fantastic number to make it a competitive and enjoyable competition. Let’s enjoy it and best of luck to everyone.

Please follow all Covid guidelines as always. Our members have been excellent at following all health and safety guidelines, so please continue in this manner to keep everyone safe.

LADIES

On Tuesday, October 29 the ladies played a fourball which was sponsored by Theresa O’Keeffe, our lady captain. The winners on the day were Kathleen Grumbridge and Theresa O’Keeffe with 43 nett. In second place were Terry Cleary and Catherine O’Gorman with 44 ½. Theresa has had a very busy year and puts in a lot of effort and hard work. She is a huge part of the club’s success. The ladies would like to thank her for the time and energy she puts into the club and for the kindness and friendship she offers to all the ladies.

At a recent meeting the ladies’ competitions were set out for November. We would love to see as many ladies as possible taking part. 6th Nov fourball sponsored by Judith O’Mahony. 13th Nov fourball sponsored by Nell McCarthy and Terry Cleary. 20th Nov Hallowe’en hamper sponsored by Beth Power (overall, 2nd nett and gross). 27th Nov Bring and Win competition.

Thank you to all those for their kind sponsorship. We would like to wish all members taking part in our club autumn leagues the best of luck.
