POOR WEEKEND FOR UNITED

-

We had two teams in action over the weekend. Our U13 team were away to Inch while our U16s were at home in a local derby game against neighbours Lismore with bragging rights for school on Monday up for grabs.

Sadly both our teams were defeated and add to that neither team found the net. Not to worry boys, it’s all good for the next games.

The meeting of the Uniteds in Inch saw the home side take all three points. The Inch side proved too strong for our boys and most of the damage was done in the opening half as they led 5-0.

Our boys did up their game in the second half. They created some good chances with Sheehan, King, Pratt and Whelan all going close in a ten minute period as they came more into the game. However, failing to convert their chances proved costly as Inch grabbed three more goals in the final five minutes. All of Inch’s goals came from their captain Ben Geary. No doubt we will hear more on him as the season moves on. Full report in league notes.

Brideview Utd (all played): Darragh O’Brien, Daniel Henley, Lukasz Madej, Isaac Almeida, Sean Mangan, Tadhg McCormack, Adam Pratt, Ben Sheehan, Ryan Whelan, Geordan Murphy, Michael Murphy, Lee Guildea, Ethan King.

EAST CORK OIL U16 PREMIER DIVISION Brideview Utd 0 Lismore 4

After a slow start to this game both the wind and rain increased as did the two teams’ efforts. A game Utd will want to forget as the scoreline does not reflect how the game could have gone.

Again I suppose it’s all about taking chances and overall, while Utd did create them, they did fail to convert them, including a penalty. However, coach Shane Aherne and manager Clive Good will take the positives from this one. Match report on league notes.

Utd (all played): Jack McDonnell, Ian Martin, Ciaran Sheehan, Fionn Meaney, Alan Hurley, Calum McCarthy, Alex Bennett, Josh Good, William Kenneally (captain), Adam McSweeney, Jake Henley, Michael Kiely, Taylor Twohig.
