U12s complete the double
Confident after their success in the U12 North Cork hurling final last week v Fermoy, our U12 footballers rounded off a successful campaign as North Cork football champions on Sunday last. This hardworking Mitchelstown outfit overcame a tough Ballycastle Gaels side in extremely testing conditions.
Having won the toss, Ballycastle Gaels opted to take advantage in the first half and play with the strong wind that blew across the beautifully manicured surface in Kildorrery. Our boys battled hard, with all members of our panel actively involved and eventually proved the dominant force that justly earned them the title of North Cork champions, winning on a scoreline of 1-14 to 1-3.
Thank you to Ballycastle Castle Gaels for a very competitive game and also thank you to Kildorrery GAA for providing their beautiful pitch for the final. Congratulations again to this great bunch of young men who have worked extremely hard and trained excellently throughout what was a very different sporting campaign. A huge thank you also to their parents/ guardians who have been a great support throughout the year and to the coaches for their continued guidance and encouragement.
U14s HURLERS WIN NORTH CORK PLATE FINAL
It was a great weekend for our juvenile club. Firstly the U12s footballers capturing the North Cork final and then our U14 hurlers winning the plate final. The hurlers had a great win over Newmarket 1-17 to 0-3. Well done to all the players and their coaches Kevin O’Gorman, Donie Whelan and Jim Kenneally.
MITCHELSTOWN INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALLERS IN COUNTY FINAL
Congratulations to Mitchelstown intermediate footballers who had a great win over Aghabullogue to reach the county final. The final against Rockchapel had been fixed for this Saturday, however, due to the recent GAA announcement, this match has now been deferred to a later date. Well done to all the lads and we look forward to the final.
ALL GAMES SUSPENDED
The GAA’s management committee made the decision during the week to suspend all GAA club games at all levels with immediate effect and until further notice. Training can continue as per the guidelines outlined for the relevant levels. The GAA will continue to monitor the situation.
