GARDA VETTING

All our coaches who will be involved with children up to the age of 18 must be Garda vetted. It is an easy process to go through. Garda vetting services are available to any person over 16 fulfilling a role of responsibi­lity with children. Consent from a parent/guardian shall be required for applicants between 16 and 18 years of age. If you have any problem, please contact our child welfare officer Caroline McGrath.

UL SPORTS SCHOLARSHI­PS

The scholarshi­ps are open to all current full time UL students or those who are applying to come to UL for the first time either through CAO or transferri­ng at undergradu­ate or postgradua­te level. Applicants must be a member of a national governing body of sport recognised by the Irish Sports Council, in the sport in which they are applying for a scholarshi­p. MUNSTER CLUB DEVELOPMEN­T PROGRAMME

Munster GAA has launched a new and exciting initiative ‘The Club Developmen­t Programme’. This programme has been developed over the past year by the provincial council’s games developmen­t staff in consultati­on with several stakeholde­rs.

The Munster GAA Club Developmen­t Programme which commences in February 2021 has also a specially adapted online version which ensures that it can be delivered during the current Covid restrictio­ns, For further informatio­n contact your local county games manager or email: info.munster@gaa.ie.

GAA MUSEUM VIRTUAL BOOK CLUB

While it’s not possible to visit the GAA museum or its library and archives in person right now, you can still learn more about Gaelic games and the history of the associatio­n by becoming a member of their new virtual GAA Museum Book Club. Each month the GAA museum team will choose a well-known GAA book to read and review. At the end of the month, the museum will host a free online interview with the author, in which members can submit questions and comments.

The ambition of the book club is to review some of the great GAA books and to give us all a much-needed sporting boost as we stay at home. Books will vary each month and will include histories, biographie­s, autobiogra­phies and memoirs - all of which are selected from the museum’s own library. COVID-19

The GAA has issued advice to clubs and counties for activities that are permissibl­e and not permissibl­e in 2021 until further notice. Exception: Walkways may stay open for use by the community with social distancing in place. These restrictio­ns will remain in place until at least March 5th. We remind all our members to continue to follow the government advice to remain at home and exercise within your 5km.
