LOTTO JACKPOT HITS €4,000

- ARAGLIN GAA

It’s all good news in relation to our weekly lotto draw, which now stands at €4,000. The lotto was won last July by Ted Brady from Inniscarra, who relieved the club of €9,000.

Allowing for ‘ big wins’, a well run lotto, like its national and international counterparts, is capable of returning a healthy profit and glad to report, that the Araglin GAA lotto continues to be the club’s biggest revenue generator - this trend continued during 2020, when Covid-19 restrictions put paid to nearly all fundraising.

HARD WORKING FINANCE COMMITTEE

Needless to say, this committee is an important one, as without ‘the bobs’, a club is going to struggle. Our finance committee is chaired by professional accountant and former club goalkeeper, Tony Hyland. Tony and his team continue to do great work.

FORTUNATE WITH OUR ONLINE TIMING

The club were fortunate to commence its online lotto option just before Covid-19 restrictions hit - we went online Thursday night, 5th March, 2020. There is an associated cost with signing up to a service provider (in our case Clubforce) but on balance, it’s well worth it.

REBELS’ BOUNTY SALES GOING WELL

Rebels’ Bounty tickets are still available (€100 each). The first of 12 draws takes place on Thursday, 25th March.

SUCCESSFUL LITTER PICK

Well done to members of Araglin Community Council for organising last Sunday’s litter pick. Unfortunately, roadside litter continues to be a problem on all our approach roads with cans, bottles, fastfood wrappings, disposable cups and plastic being the biggest offenders. You could be appealing forever for people to do the right thing, but you’re wasting your time by all accounts.

CLONMULT REMEMBERED

The tricolour flew at half mast in Araglin last Sunday to mark the 100th anniversary of what became known as the ‘Clonmult Massacre’, when 12 IRA volunteeers were killed by British forces at a location that’s 5 miles from Midleton.

GET WELL WISHES

The club extends get well wishes to Araglin native, Diane Hickey-Meagher, who is undergoing treatment in Dublin at the moment.
