COMPLETE!
Our application for Sports Capital funding for our proposed new international size 4G all-weather pitch has now been submitted. Huge thanks must go to the officers of Park United, especially our secretary David O’Sullivan who worked tirelessly to ensure that all requirements were met prior to submitting the application.
With the project costing in excess of €600k, fingers crossed now that we will get a decent grant allocation. It is hoped that successful grant applicants will be notified in May. The weather has really proven that this facility was never more needed and will benefit the club as a whole and more importantly the community and schools etc.
RETURN TO PLAY
At the time of writing we are none the wiser as to when the green light will be given for return to play or training. Some of the leagues we are affiliated to are adamant that the season will kick start as soon as permission is granted, but with every month that passes it’s looking more unlikely than likely.
WEEKLY LOTTO
With a big project and commitment from the club on the horizon, fundraising was never more important to this club. Unfortunately we are not in a position to kick start our weekly lotto draw as of yet but hope to in the near future. We ask you the public to please continue your great support of our weekly lotto which is our club’s main source of income.
SYMPATHIES
Park United AFC expresses its deepest sympathies to the Lyons family, Lower Cork St on the death of Donal Lyons RIP. Our prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
GET WELL SOON
All at Park Utd AFC wish Ellen Fitzgibbon and John White a speedy recovery after recent stays in hospital.
The parish woke up to the news last Friday morning that one of our own had become a football All-Star for 2020.
As the pinnacle of individual accolades for GAA players, this is an unbelievable achievement and befitting of Conor’s approach towards his sport. After a historic year in multiple respects, the recognition was an endorsement of the consistency of Conor’s performances and leadership through Tipperary’s memorable Munster winning campaign. Skeheenarinky hurling are extremely proud of his achievement and extend our congratulations to Conor and his family who have supported him throughout his journey. Hopefully we will have an opportunity soon to share and commemorate this moment with Conor in person but for the moment – enjoy!
Conor was joined on Saturday night by Stephen Bennett, Ballysaggart and Waterford who received his hurling All-Stars award. Stephen is a son of our close club friend and coach Pat. We were delighted to hear the news. Well done Stephen on the recognition. Like Conor’s, truly well deserved.
JUVENILE COMMITTEE FUNDRAISER
Our juvenile committee in conjunction with Ballyporeen Ladies GAA are organising a virtual 5k fundraiser for the weekend of March 19-21. Look out for more information in the coming weeks. A GoFundMe page is being created to facilitate people to support and we hope everyone will come out and participate over the weekend.
SYMPATHIES
On a sadder note, we want to extend our condolences to the McGrath family, Galtee View on the death of our friend John. Our thoughts are with Bridget, Paul, Kevin, Ciaran and Sean at this time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
