LEAVE NO TRACE

-

This Saturday, Ballyhooly GAA in association with the Tidy Towns committee are asking all our members to come out and support our community clean up. We are asking if you could walk from your door for 1km and pick up any litter that you see on the roadside. All rubbish collected is to be dropped inside the gate of the community field between 1-2pm on Saturday, February 27. We live in a beautiful village and it is only right that we make efforts to keep it that way. In support of a cleaner and greener village let’s leave no trace.

LOTTO

There was no winner of last Friday’s draw and the jackpot is now at €3,200. The next draw will take place on Friday, March 5 under strict Covid regulations. Due to the current restrictions we would encourage as many as possible to use the online facility at Clubforce; alternatively, tickets can be purchased in the shop or from your usual seller.

The 5 lucky dip winners of €20 each were: Brendan McCarthy, Eamon O’Keeffe, Irene O’Keeffe, John Cahill, and Carol Harrington.

A big thank you to all who continue to support the lotto.

REBELS’ BOUNTY DRAW

We must give a big thank you to the players’ group who are doing a tremendous job with the Rebels’ Bounty ticket sales. At this stage we are over our minimum target of sales and the proceeds of all future ticket sales are for the benefit of our club. The income generated from this draw will be very beneficial in aiding the funding that is required for the improvements planned for the community field. Also, a big thank you to our club officers, coaches and all who are selling the tickets.

There is over €500k in prizes to be won across 12 draws (30 prizes each month) during 2021 and tickets are €100 or €10 monthly. The first draw will take place on March 25th, and this will incorporate 3 draws for Jan, Feb, and March. When entering please ensure to enter Ballyhooly as the club on the online form. If you need any information please contact any of the players or treasurer@ballyhooly.cork.gaa.ie, secretarybng.ballyhooly.cork@gaa.ie or chairperson.ballyhooly.cork@gaa.ie.

FIELD DEVELOPMENT

The planning application and process for grant applications has all commenced. It has been several years since any upgrades were done in the community field, and I am sure that most of the community would appreciate improved facilities. Some of these improvements include improved lighting, playground update, walkway, and parking upgrade, as well as pitch improvements. Hopefully over the next few weeks we will have further updates available to share.

COVID AND RETURN TO PLAY

At the time of writing we are hearing that certain age groups will be returning to school shortly and we are waiting for the government to share the roadmap for this return to school, and the overall plan for the return to work, sport, leisure, and life.

With the country still in level 5, can we ask that users of the community field walkway and playground do so in a safe fashion, and adhere to HSE and government guidelines around Covid. We would ask that people continue to social distance and if everyone could walk clockwise around the community field that would also help with social distancing measures.

MAIN CLUB SPONSORS

We have joint sponsors, Ballyhooly Homes and Quintas, please support if you can. In these difficult times it is great to have this support from our sponsors. Stay safe out there.
