A fond farewell from Ciara

-

Dear Mitchelstown,

It’s with a sad heavy heart that I say a very fond farewell to this beautiful town. I first started with Patrick Fitzgibbons Pharmacy over two years ago. From that day to this it has been quite a journey.

We have undergone a massive renovation, joined our lovely totalhealth co-op group, welcomed our fantastic technician Ann, battled a fire, hosted a health fair, produced a menu, welcomed L’Occitane, Oh and powered through a pandemic!

It’s been the best of times and the most challenging times. I really could not have done it all without the support of my pharmacy family. I must pay tribute to the never wavering strength of these amazing women.

To Karagh, Elizabeth, Jo, Noreen, Ann, Ilaria, Annette and Mrs Fitzgibbon thank you for supporting my crazy ideas and making the tough times easier. Thank you for a million cups of tea and a million more laughs. Finally, I must thank my wonderful customers and the people of this fantastic town. I have learnt so much. You really are a special town.

As our 96fm podcast rightly mentioned I am just a blow in,

a city girl that fell in love with the town and its ethos (and its market!). I will miss my lovely dinner packages from the great team at O’Callaghan’s, I will miss my coffee and gingerbread men from Blueberries. My two boys and friends had a wonderful Christmas thanks to Pat O’Sullivan’s and The Favourite.

I still miss our Saturday treat at the Clongibbon and date night at The Hunters. I’ll miss my chats with the wonderful very hard working women in Livinghealth and my strong partnership with the doctors, Doody’s and Murphy’s. Most of all I’ll miss the people.

I met the most genuine, resilient, honest people during my time here. I have been so inspired by the courage and strength of so many people. Never before has the phrase “your health is your wealth” been more relevant. I have met people that have a daily struggle with illness and pain but still manage to be pleasant and polite.

It might feel like these are hard times but we really do have so much to be thankful for. You have taught me so much Mitchelstown. Stay strong, support each other and support local. Thank you.

All my love, Ciara.
