Mitchelstown Tennis Club announce premium sponsorship agreement with Kerrygold Park
Kerrygold Park’s butter manufacturing facility is now well established in Mitchelstown, producing household brand products for the past 5 years. Now, Mitchelstown Tennis Club, which next year celebrates its 130th birthday, is well placed to reap the rewards of a sponsorship agreement with them.
General Manager of Kerrygold Park, Sean McHugh, underlining the company’s commitment to local communities, said: “Community and belonging is at the heart of how Kerrygold Park operate. Giving back to the community is a core value of Kerrygold Park. We are looking forward to building a strong relationship with such an important local amenity.”
CLUB WELL POSITIONED
Treasurer of Mitchelstown Tennis Club, Michael Rea, reflects on the year gone by.
“Our membership numbers saw an unprecedented increase over the past 18 months due in no small part to the fact that tennis was one of the very few sports allowed to operate throughout almost all Covid lockdowns.
“It was new territory after that first lockdown. Everyone had to find a way to make it work. Those running the club, and those taking part, stuck to the guidelines and managed to come out the other side unmarked by Covid.”
Despite the continuing public health challenges, the club is well positioned for the future, having recently completed construction of a state-of-the-art clubhouse as part of a wider capital works programme, which will now switch to enhancing external facilities to be enjoyed by all for years to come.
BEST OUTCOME
Club chairperson, John Paul Cotter, states that this partnership with Kerrygold Park will help to build upon the hard work done to date.
“When the club had to limit its services solely to structure Junior Tennis training and coaching, the club added additional volunteer capacity to deliver a Friday/ Saturday/Sunday programme to meet the increased demand under reduced participant levels as mandated by Tennis Ireland and public health guidance. It was hard work, but the smiles on the faces of the children aged 6-16 made it all worthwhile.
“During a time when children are kept apart from their friends, it’s important to recognise the value of sports and physical activity for good mental health. We are ready, when safe to do so, to welcome back all of our members, their families and friends.
“The best outcome was where the club could leverage a long-term partnership, and Kerrygold Park could support a local sporting organisation that is all-inclusive regardless of age or ability. It is a great honour and privilege to have Kerrygold Park come on board as a premium sponsor,” John Paul said.
