Busy week for Seandún Macra

-

It was another busy week for Seandún as we joined 3 Province Macra in Cavan for a quiz night. As part of a national Macra exchange programme, Cavan Macra is one of the regions we are paired with so we were delighted to see some of our members engage with this initiative as we enjoyed the quiz with a large crowd in attendance. Thanks a million to Cavan for a great night. We’re looking forward to the next cross regional event.

Sunday saw UCC chairman John Downey takeover our Instagram page as part of our ongoing farm takeovers. He did a really interesting takeover as he showed us around his farm and really engaged with our followers as he gave them the opportunity to ask questions also. There was great feedback from his takeover. Thanks a million John.

This week also saw our members continuing to get out and about for our ongoing couch to 5k which our social officer Selina spoke about on our weekly radio slot on C103fm as part of our weekly farmtalk interviews. She did a great job. Well done to every member who is taking part in our couch to 5k and putting in the effort to run and get fit. We have members taking part from not just Seandun but also from other counties such as Cavan, Mayo and Kerry and other Cork regions also. Keep up the hard work everyone.

Monday saw UCC hold another event as we attended their weekly Monday event. This week saw them host a bingo night which was very well attended by members from Cavan, Limerick and Seandún. Their treasurer Niamh did a brilliant job of entertaining us as she called the numbers. Well done UCC on a great night and stay tuned as they have their big week on the farm coming up next week with a series of guest speakers and Instagram takeovers. Monday sees dairy farmer Pat Aherne discussing his personal use of homeopathy and Tuesday sees

Kildare dairy farmer, executive director at Glanbia, Director of the National Cattle Breeding Centre and B&B owner Vincent Gorman give a talk. All of their talks will be held via Zoom. Make sure to contact us for login details.

Monday also saw us take on Ballinadee Macra’s fitness boot camp which is open to all Macra members and running alongside the national competitions competition. We were certainly put through our paces as Christine and Jerry took us through the exercises. We are looking forward to the next one on March 15th.

Stay tuned to our weekly radio interviews on C103fm between 10.30am and 11am on Saturday morning’s farm talk show as Cork County PRO Aishling O’Keefe tells us all about Cork County Macra’s upcoming 70th anniversary celebrations. Make sure to follow our social media pages also to keep up to date.
