AGM update

-

Tallow Camogie Club hosted their AGM via Zoom last week. Thank you to everyone who attended.

The club officers nominated for 2021 were as follows: chairperson: Amy Mackintosh, secretary: Jackie Forbes, treasurer: Carmel Mackintosh, children’s officer: Linda Casey, PRO Ciara Hallahan.

We would like to thank our previous officers for all their dedication to their roles over the last number of years and being great ambassadors to Tallow Camogie Club. A special mention to Jackie Sheehan who has been our secretary and backbone to the club for a long number of years.

Jackie recently welcomed her lovely little girl Elle so is taking a well-earned break from the role for 2021. However, she will be returning back to the camogie field this year which will be a great boost to our junior team.

Looking back over 2020 it was a positive year for Tallow Camogie Club. Our junior team were narrowly defeated in the shield final by Portlaw. Our team has continued to grow and get stronger year on year and we look forward to 2021 to have a chance to contest another championship final.

We thank everyone who helped us out last year in regards to this. Special mention to James

Clancy, Thomas Ryan, Shaun O’Sullivan, Mark McConnell, Kieran Geary, Peter Queally and Denis Walsh who all helped us out in some way with regards to managing and training our team.

Our underage teams also had a good year and all have great potential to make 2021 a successful one. Our U10s and 12s contested strongly in the Go-Games tournaments and made it to the semi-finals. Both our U14s and 16s also played well in 2020 and have great capability for the future. Unfortunately, U13s and minor did not go ahead due to Covid but we hope the girls will have a chance to compete in 2021. Again, special mentions to Claire Curley, Molly Ryan and Nicole Curley who help out with regards to coaching and managing these teams.

We also appreciate the help from Elaine Sheehan, Amy Henley, Leanne Sheehan, Aobhla

Motherway, Rachel Roche, Olivia Mason and Aislinn O’Mahony who all helped out in some capacity throughout the year.

Finally, we would like to thank all members of the club who have continued to support and keep our club going during 2020 and beyond.

SPONSORSHIP

We have new sponsors this year in Gamevan Munster and Gimmie.ie. We would like to thank them for generously sponsoring a set of jerseys and skorts for both our U12 and junior team for 2021. Both of these businesses are run by locals Donal and Julie Barry. We are absolutely delighted that they have decided to sponsor us for the year and we look forward to working with them for the 2021 season.

We would ask if you could please show them all your support and please follow them on social media under their respective business names.

WELCOME TO OUR 2021 COACHES

Sending a huge welcome and appreciation to some of our new coaches this year.

Our junior team have a new trainer in Tadgh O’Connor from Killeagh. Tadgh has taken us on for the year and has a lot of experience training camogie teams like Killeagh and Youghal in the past. We thank him for taking the interest and the commitment for the year to help our girls progress in the 2021 season.

Jake Beecher has also been helping us with our strength and conditioning. We have just started our plan with him and some weekly Zoom classes. We would like to send him a huge thank you for all his help and dedicating his time to us. Jake also recently set up his own page as a personal trainer so if anyone is interested in starting up a new program or to increase their general fitness, please give him a follow: beech. fitness on social media.

We have a very strong set up this year for our U14s and 16s. Again, a huge appreciation to Ian Mackintosh, Brendy Donnelly, Mossy Spillane and Carmel Mackintosh. Both of these teams have great potential for 2021 and I am delighted they have a lot of experience and guidance to help them achieve their full capabilities.

Finally, I would like to thank Mary Murphy for agreeing to train our U12 team. Mary has a lot of experience training different teams in both hurling and camogie and will be a great addition to this age group to teach them the fundamentals of camogie. We are also still looking for some people to help out with Mary and this age group so if anyone has interest in any capacity, we would greatly appreciate it.
