COMMUNITY CONNECT SUPPORT GROUP FOR MOTHERS AND NEW BABIES

- ESSENTIAL WORK

While the pandemic has been tough for everyone, for vulnerable new mothers and families in need of support, it is even more challenging.

Community Connect, an organisation that offers support to pregnant women and babies in a practical and tangible way, is responding to those needs by running a nationwide Click For Pickup donation event later this month.

Community Connect partners with homeless agencies, domestic violence services, direct provision centres and health professionals around Ireland to provide support to pregnant women and new mothers in need with gifts of essential items like buggies, moses baskets, baby clothes and mother and baby boxes filled with practical items such as nappies and baby blankets, to give a helping hand.

The organisation relies on the generosity of volunteers and donors around Ireland to continue its work. On March 20, Community Connect is asking people to support their Click For Pickup National Donation Day in their local area.

Speaking about the event, Programme Manager of Community Connect, Elaine Noonan said: “We are seeing demand for the services we provide growing in recent months. The Covid crisis has added to the pressure many families are under and we want to help as many as we can.”

She continued: “The Click For Pickup event is a covid-friendly way to donate new baby items to vulnerable families. It couldn’t be easier to get involved. Donors just need to follow four simple steps: Visit our website www.communityconnect. ie to check if their area is listed, browse the list of items requested and decide what they want to donate, register their details and leave the items outside their door on Saturday 20th March and our local volunteers will collect them.

“The items donated will be delivered to pregnant women and new mothers in need in the coming weeks and months.

We are so grateful to our volunteers and supporters for what we have achieved so far and we hope to continue and grow this essential work over the rest of 2021”, she concluded.
