Obituary - Rodger O’Halloran, Conna and Kilworth

It is with deep sorrow that the sudden passing of Rodger O’Halloran is recorded, late of Monty’s Meadow, Conna and formerly of Kilworth, Co. Cork on 28th February.

Rodger was loving son of the late James and Elizabeth O’Halloran and brother to his sister, who died in infancy.

Lying in repose at Aidan Walsh & Sons Funeral Home, Tallow on Tuesday evening,

March 2nd funeral prayers were recited by Rev. Fr. B. O’Donovan P.P. in the presence of his loving family. Removal took place to St. Catherine’s Church, Conna and on arrival, his remains were duly received and blessed.

On Wednesday morning, March 3rd, funeral Mass was celebrated by Fr O’Donovan, assisted by Rev. Fr. Paddy Barry P.E..

Symbols representi­ng Rodger’s life were presented to the altar by Tina Dunleavy (photo of Rodger and his mother), James Leahy (statue of Our Lady), Eamonn Leahy (ornamental love birds) and Donal Leahy (high vis jacket). The significan­ce of these were narrated by Laura Downes. A fitting eulogy was delivered by Laura, giving an insight into Rodger’s life and acknowledg­ing the help and support the family have received from family and the surroundin­g community.

Readings during the Mass were recited by Eileen and Donal Leahy. Prayers of the faithful were read by Linda O’Keeffe, Laura Downes, Tina Dunleavy and Susan McCarthy. A lovely selection of music and hymns were provided by soloist Sarah Barry and organist Marjorie Moran. The offertory gifts were presented to the altar by Linda O’Keeffe and Susan McCarthy.

Following the funeral Mass, burial took place in Templenaca­rriga Cemetery, Lisgoold. Fr. O’Donovan officiated the graveside prayers, where Rodger was laid to rest in the presence of his loving family. Following prayers, Willie Kearney played one of Rodger’s favourite songs ‘I Don’t Mind If I Do’ on the accordion.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his loving family, Eddie, Billy and Jimmy Leahy, Mon O’Callaghan and Paddy Ahern, extended relatives, neighbours and friends. May he rest in peace.
