BALLYNOE NATIONAL SCHOOL
Fond memories of Ballynoe NS
As I reach the end of my time in Ballynoe, I look back with so many fond memories of my time in school. The teachers were welcoming from the time I walked in the door. My first memory is of my friends and I playing with the doll’s house in the Junior Infant class. Some of the dolls are still there and the Junior Infants still play with them.
The biggest event I had was my First Holy Communion in 2nd class. We were lucky that the school is near the church and we walked up for our many practices. We had great fun decorating the church with our lovely artwork.
Sport is big in Ballynoe NS. We are lucky to have our own pitch and walking track behind our school. We also participate in Sciath na Scol every year and have been very successful in the last few years. Our school also participated in a virtual Scór na bPáistí this year and in 6th class we had great fun singing, playing music and dancing.
We had some fantastic school tours over the years to Ballyhass Lakes, Trabolgan and Fota. Recently, our teachers brought us on an educational trip to Britway to visit the ancient St Brigid’s Church, the old school house and saw donkey’s and horses on the walk back to school.
Now that we are near the end of our time in Ballynoe school, it is sad that we have to spend so much time at home because of covid. I’m looking forward to going back to school to make more 6th class memories.
6th class got lovely ‘half-zip’ tops this year and we got to design them ourselves. I have been so lucky to go to a small country school where everyone knows each other.
