Mallow plans for ‘22 parade

-

Dear Editor, Imagine this time last year the Mallow Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee were meeting to consider whether or not we would

cancel the 2020 parade. It is hard to think that that conversation was actually going on at that time, considering how the Covid-19 virus spread so much in March last year. The first lockdown came after the Taoiseach gave his speech on March 17th of last year.

It’s been a very difficult year for all of us. At our recent committee meeting, we paused to remember all those from Mallow and North Cork who passed away as a result of contacting Covid-19. The committee members would like to pay a special thanks to those frontline workers who worked tirelessly to ensure that we could survive in these difficult times.

Now there is new hope in the air. The elderly in Mallow and North Cork have received their vaccinations in recent days. So, it is time for all of us to make plans again. With this in mind, the Mallow Parade Committee decided that we should make plans for March 17th, 2022.

We will commence plans for the 2022 Mallow parade in September. It is our intention that next year’s parade will be bigger and better than ever before.

So, on behalf of the Mallow Parade Committee, I would like to invite anyone with ideas for our 2022 Mallow parade to get in touch with myself, Noel O’Connor (087) 2738222 or our secretary Maire Ui Bhrian at the Naoinire in Mallow

GAA Sports Complex and let us know how we can make the Mallow 2022 Saint Patrick’s Day parade a really memorable one.

Yours, Noel O’Connor, Chairperson, Mallow Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Committee.
