Obituary - Nora (Noley) Aherne

-

With profound sorrow and regret we record the passing of Nora (Noley), Aherne (nee Tobin) Monty’s Meadow, Conna and formerly of West Street, Tallow. Loving wife of the late John Aherne, sister of the late Molly Ahern and Michael Tobin, Nora passed peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on February 13.

Nora’s reposal was at Aidan Walsh & Sons Funeral Home, Tallow on Sunday evening where, rosary was recited by family members.

On Monday morning prayers were recited before removal took place from her son Milo’s home to the Immaculate Conception Church, Tallow. On arrival, her remains were received and blessed and funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev Fr Pat Condon PP. Readings during the Mass were recited by grand-daughters Abbie and Isobel. Prayers of the faithful were read by grand-daughter Lucy. Lovely selections of hymns were provided by Sinead O’Neill accompanied by Emily Aherne on the guitar throughout the Mass. The offertory gifts were presented to the altar by grandchildren Shane and Alison. Following communion, Nora’s son Milo delivered a fitting eulogy recalling memories and acknowledging the help and support that the family have received in these difficult times.

Following the funeral Mass, burial took place in the adjoining cemetery where again Fr Condon recited graveside prayers as Nora was laid to rest in the presence of her loving family.

We extend our deepest sympathy to her loving sons Michael (Milo), Liam (Uli), Sean and Gary, daughter Colette Power, brother James Tobin, sisters Teresa Clynch and Joan Nugent, daughters-in-law Valerie, Noreen, Aileen and Noreen, son-inlaw Martin Power, brother-in-law Frank Clynch, sister-in-law Rena Aherne, her loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends in Conna and Tallow.

May she rest in peace. (Funeral arrangements by Aidan Walsh & Sons Funeral Directors Cappoquin & Tallow)
